1.)

Realize that you are a Sinner, and separated from God by this sin.

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

2.)

Even though we sin, God loves us and wants us to be able to join him in heaven

John 3:16 "For God so lived the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life."

3.)

Christ died for us because he loves us

Romans 5:8 "But while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

4.)

Christ is the only way to heaven

John 14:16 "Jesus said to him 'I am the way, the truth, and the light. No one comes to the father except through me"

5.)

Christ is Gods gift to us.

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

6.)

Accept Christ as your savior.

You say a prayer to God that says that you believe he sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross so that you could have life, and that you accept his gift of salvation. Also tell him that you know you're a sinner, and ask him to forgive you (and he will). Tell him that you want him to guide your life, and always lead you in the right direction. Place your trust in him.

This, and only this, is what gives you salvation.
